The Longest Shot Named One of 50 Must-Read Canadian Middle Grade Books – The Canadian Children's Book Centre

In celebration of Canada Day, the Canadian Children’s Book Centre (CCBC) has curated a list of 50 Must-Read Canadian Middle Grade Books, selecting The Longest Shot: How Larry Kwong Changed the Face of Hockey as a featured title.

Co-authored by George Chiang and Chad Soon, and illustrated by Amy Qi, the biography chronicles the inspiring life of Larry Kwong, who broke the NHL's color barrier in 1948. The curated selection aims to encourage young readers across the country to discover rich, impactful Canadian narratives during their summer reading.

Being included on this list alongside iconic works of Canadian children's literature highlights the ongoing national importance of sharing Larry’s story of resilience, courage, and perseverance with the next generation.
